One IMME, two Juncker's ( one a 1st pattern and one a third pattern). I bought all three from the same German dealer. Thank you very much. I examined some of my Juncker and Assman Observers Badges and found they had the proper smooth backside that resembles the badge you entered in this thread. And all with all good maker marks. Well, I really had a streak of bad luck. I'm returning all three of them tomarrow for the refund. I'm indebted to you, Rich. Thank you.
P.S. I will reveal the dealer if you desire, to protect other members. But not until someone asks. Robert
    Robert,

be calm, now that you have put scans I can understand why was "strange" for me, I can presume some things:

I am not sure it's a fake one but I thought this piece is made during the war nearly in middle time, it shows they have take a early wreath with a middle 2nd pattern eagle, for this that this badge has confused opinions, but the assembly pieces are of this time ( hinge- rivets)

I agree with Mike that the hallmark it's not bad, is usual find marks imprints not totally from Juncker in the middle time.

I agree with Rich that must be smooth in the 1st pattern but the eagle is sure 2nd pattern - as I said in the beginnen -
the cacth is evident that is replaced ( and they have crash in the front too) and is for this that is not like is usual to see in the 1st type.

my opinion this is an original one, but you are free don't like this "mixed" badge and return it.

just only my opinion, what Mike and Rich think?

Please don't jump to conclusions Robert!

I PMed you with my home #, maybe we can meet up tomorrow and see what they look like. The images aren't the best. I think its probably OK.

          Hi Tim,

what do you think about my topic?

I like its wreath, from one photo - where can see very well the profile it looks very good.

            Robert,
I'd just like to add that while the first pattern should have a smooth back, the 2nd and 3rd patterns can be rougher in appearence and look cast. Unfortunately I don't have these 2 type to provide any pictures but these are observations that I have made.

I disagree that the eagle shown is the 2nd pattern. The 2nd pattern has a different shaped head.

The maker mark on the 3rd pattern that you've shown actually looks correct. Please show more of this one before making any decisions!

Also, meet up with Tim C because as always, photographs do not always tell the whole story and he'll be able to make a good assessment with it in his hands (provided he can see through the Jaeger/Bailies mist!!)

Regards and I wish you look luck with these

            Rich

                Hi Ivan,

I've got to agree with Rich, the eagle looks like a first pattern to me.
My judgement is sometimes off when I'm NOT drunk, so I'll post a 1st, 2nd and 3rd pattern eagle close-up for you guys to check out.
                Merry Christmas!

Here's the J1. Keep in mind that this badge is quite minty.

                      Hi,

From Robert's scans yesterday, my thoughts were that the badge is a genuine but repaired 1st pattern Juncker - sometimes it's interesting just how much imagery can effect an evaluation! Nothing like a hands on evaluation though to be 100% sure.

Robert, if you're lucky enough to live near Tim, make the time to arrange a visit as I'm sure you'll learn 10 times more spending an hour with his collection than you would in weeks on even this great forum!

                      Regards
                      Mike K

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

                        More photos...

                        Mike,
I wanted to make things even more interesting by adding a few more photos. I know they're not up to the quality of my other camera, but still it's an attempt to post some better photos. The first is a 3rd Pattern Juncker Pilot badge in very nice condition. It has the classic Juncker maker mark with the little angular 'L' in BERLIN. The second is an IMME-marked Pilot badge in the same or better condition. Let me know what you think. The magnifying lens on the camera really distorts the image as you can see.
