    Early Juncker PB

    Dear All,

I just have added this cased bird to my collection and wanted to share with you. The recipient was a highly decorated StuKa pilot.

    Best regards,

          Hi Albert,

I think I have the twin of yours. I really like the way the highlights wear on the eagle, revealing the Tombak underneath. Great addition!

          Regards,
          Mark

            Hi Albert,

Excellent addition, congrats. I just love these first patter Juncker PBs, especially with the base tombak shining through as Mark said.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

              Hi Mark,

Nice Badge! Is it cut out between the talons?

              Best regards,

              Albert

                Thanks again guys.

Here is a close up of the beast. Amazing detail, and yes, the wear adds to the expression:

                  Hi Albert,

Nope, my Juncker is not cut out. I also have an early petite CEJ marked Pilot Abz. It's not cut-out either. You are lucky that yours is.

The CEJ marked badge is not Tombak, but nickel-silver. This makes me wonder if the first Juncker Pilot, Pilot Observer Badges and even Observer Badges, the ones marked CEJ, are all nickel silver? Then would be the transition to Juncker marked badges, which are Tombak. Just a little theory. I guess we'd need more examples to make judgement.

                  Regards,
                  Mark

My J1 has the full Juncker mark and I believe is nickel-silver (rather than tombak)

                            Alright!

Let's se more of these early birds. Very nice examples are posted. But my theory may already be invalid, since we have examples of nickel-silver badges both with CEJ and C.E.JUNCKER makermarks. I still believe the CEJs are the earliest. Doesn't the First Model Aircrew badge have the CEJ mark? And was't that early badge around 33 or 34?

                              Hi Mark,

I also think that the CEJ marked ones are the earliest. Still beautiful badges and please keep them comming

                              Best regards,
