Great eyes Indy! I think that this "semi circle" could be from the soldering fixture used by the assembler.

        thx Robert

I think that semicircle line was designed on the casting model...and there is another line whcih is straight and just below the catch a bit . Eric, does your FLAK have these 2 lines?

        best regards

                        Hi Robert,

                        Why?

Juncker used 2 different eagles on their luftflaks and changed the 88 design 3 times. On the Juncker flaks you can clearly follow the deterioration of the eagle which finaly forced them to use a new eagle die.

The eagle is a seperate piece of the badge so maybe B&NL had similar problems with the eagle die or it broke al of a sudden. For whatever reason they were forced to replace it and while the new Juncker eagle, design wise stayed close to the old one, B&NL might have chosen for a completly new design that for them was much more expresive than the old one. God knows eagle designs on more than 1 luftwaffe badge saw several changes during the production cycle.

I agree very uncommon but not impossible and it would also explain where the fakers found there inspiration for the claw foot eagles.
