But the mm is on the eagle....which is a different eagle!!! So that would mean that the stamp would have to be from a separate stamping.
No, marks are on the badge itself, not the eagle.

I agree that the marks are the same, the very slight differences are within the norm and explainable.

One question remains open for me:

-is there any indication that the eagle was added at a later point in time? Are the finishes absolutely the same, does the base metal look to be the same? Somebody could have found old unfinished B&NL stock, and added the eagles, which might have been not available anymore from the old stock. He may have possibly refinished the badges after assembly. Can we exclude this possibility?
    Cheers, Frank

Why go to all the trouble to copy such a lowly Flak badge. If I could manage this nearness to original I would go for Para or Pilots badges.

I would also cast the same eagle that was on the original badge and not a totally new design.

          Just read your reply Frank.

Finish on eagle and badge are the same. Visable base metal also appears the same.
If it was old unfinished stock then somebody went to a lot of trouble to produce these, actually very detailed, eagles.

Thanks, Skip. Strange indeed, I guess one day the explanation for this will pop up. I know there is not really a reason to dislike the type you have, but I remain suspicious. It is not enough to call them fakes though, I agree fully.

Oooops...right. I think I must have the "BSW" ROG still on my mind.

                Dear Skip,
thanks for the great pictures! What a mystery! Please forgive me but i will maintain my suspicions...(geez i feel like a prosecutor here)...however everybody knows that the guilt must be proven and as of today there is no clear proof that this badge is indeed a fake. In other words (in my opinion), case must be dismissed!

                    Hi Guys,
I have found this other Flak Badge from another forum whose eagle bears a striking resemblance to the eagle on skip's badge - another "claw foot" eagle, yet this other badge, in general, doesn't look like any of the B&NL's we've discussed thus far, "claw" or "regular". A second type of "claw foot" Flak? Hmmmm...... This second Flak is unmarked. I also have a reverse pic of this Flak, but it also fails to show any resemblance to a B&NL. Here's the pic of the second next to skips Flak.

                          Hi Eric,

                            Jeez....another tough stuff again....

I think the "&" is a bit weird. The "&" shown in Frank's pic got contains 2 circles on the top and the bottom of "&", but Skip's doesn't.
