Very impressive guys. Thanks! I am amazed how you have been able to track down the documentation. I have a nice 100% original finish alpaka goblet to Unteroffizier Hans Jaekel in einem Kampfgeschwader, came from a Canadian vet in the 1960s. I finally located and have obtained the 30/12/1942 Ehrenliste with his name entry, but no luck on anything else. I assume officers are easier to research than EM? Any thoughts?

I can only speak from my experience but those with higher awards are likely to be easier to research, regardless of rank. A lot seems to be luck and some of 'my guys' were involved in well-documented incidents. Wherever possible I try to get the Flugbuch too so I can do a lot of research. Personally I do not buy any grouping unless I can get photos of the man it relates to. Just seems to bring everything to life with photos and documents included.

Each to their own way of collecting!

                          Hallo ,
What impressive wonderful trophies are shown here, really fantastic.
to to bring this thread forward, I present another trophy from my small collection.
I would also like to ask the big collectors with their important honor goblets to present them to our collector community with really meaningful pictures.

Even if your goblets have already been presented somewhere in the WAF, this thread is now the right address for the presentation.
Please help this be a success.
                          Thank you

Now for my honor goblet. The owner was Oberfeldwebel Erwin Sawallisch.
An aircraft pilot about whom a lot can be found in the literature and on the Internet. He was temporarily Franz Stigler's buddy in Africa.
In the bestseller by Adam Makos - A higher call, a whole chapter was dedicated to the encounter between these two pilots.
To the extent that he was personally involved in the scandal of unauthorized killings in Africa, please readers should decide after studying the extensive sources.
In any case, his early victories in Spain, flown on a He51 biplane, are remarkable. This aircraft was inferior to the potential opponent, the Soviet Polikarpow I-16.
The specified air victories in the period 1939 to 1941, which ultimately led to the awarding of the Honor Goblet, should be free of doubt.

                                I went for this Ehrenpokal urkunde many moons ago simply because it was a quite obscure unit;

                                Feldwebel Karl Ludwig

On 20-August-1943 Aufklärungsstaffel 2.(F)/Nacht, subordinate component of Fernaufklärungsgruppe 2, led by Gruppenkommandeur Major Oskar Otolsky, was operating from Orscha-Süd. With Flugzeugführer Feldwebel Karl Ludwig at the controls, Dornier Do 217 K-1 aircraft, Werk Nr: 4471 and coded ‘K7+FK’ took off on a reconnaissance sortie behind enemy lines. The aircraft suffered engine failure during the sortie and as a result force-landed South East of Kritschew (Sudenez-Titowka area). The crash site, situated approximately 130 km from Orscha-Süd was an area known for a high level of partisan activity. No contact was made with any of the crew members following the crash and they were subsequently reported as missing in action.

Dornier Do 217 K-1 aircraft, Werk Nr: 4471 and coded ‘K7+FK’, was crewed by the following personnel:

                                Flugzeugführer: Feldwebel Karl Ludwig
                                Beobachter: Oberleutnant Günter Weigt
                                Bordfunker: Feldwebel Edgar Kubisch
                                Bordschütze: Unteroffizier Helmut Stiller

Feldwebel Karl Ludwig was awarded the Ehrenpokal für Besondere Leistung im Luftkreig on 31-August-1943, 11 days after being reported as missing in action on the Eastern Front. Born on 10-December-1919 in Berneck/Ofr. Karl Ludwig was 24 years old.
