    Small Battle Units Badge-for review

I know, this is a very controversial badge. Are the pieces with the sawfish with 6 "teeth" automatically recognized as post-war reproductions?
Thank you in advance for your comments.

      Hi Klaus54,

Aside from the general information thread for which John provided that link, here is another thread that more directly addresses the “6 denticle vs. 7 denticle” dilemma.
      https://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/for...69#post6192369

The best evidence (weak as it is) is for the 7-denticle version, but there is a single example of the 6-denticle version of the Bewährungsabzeichen shown on the last page of that thread which was auctioned with a Soldbuch for Ernst Burgemann. Taken at face value, that would suggest that the 6-denticle version may be period but we still lack any period photos for confirmation.

The fact remains that most examples that come up on the market are minty fresh like yours suggesting, at best, unissued stock from the end of the war or, at worst, a batch of post-war “replacement” patches.

      Best regards,
      —-Norm
