Badge of 11 U-Boot Flotille on e-stand opinions please.

    Hi.

I need your opinions on this Badge of 11 U-Boot Flotille that is posted on the e-stand.

IMO it is a replica because of the "coffin" needle attachment, but I would like your opinions on it just to be sure.

    Regards,
    André

Modern reproduction. Colors also wrong for original war time piece

I agree. Very similar to the type offered by warhats.com which come in both new and artificially aged versions. There are slight differences to the obverse and currently there isn't a photo of the reverse of the warhats version, but that is a type of pin attachment that they use on other repros.

        Best regards,
        ---Norm

In fact, here's the exact same type from eBay. Three available, 10 Euro each.

Here's Terence's previous thread showing the true colours for this emblem:

              Hi,

This is my badge (for sale).
I once bought this badge by the way, as a postwar unofficial badge for Kriegsmarine veterans, and I never claimed that the badge is war-time.

But I have a picture of the same badge produced by SCHUCO supposedly from the war-time period ...

              Regards
              Jarek

                Hi Jarek,

No, that's just the warhats.com repro. They're artificially aged and marked S.H.u.Co. on the reverse for effect -- not wartime and not made for veterans either. See the excerpts from their website. Their two favourite markings are "S.H.u.Co." and "GES. GESCH.", neither of which appear on wartime U-Boat flotilla cap pins.

                Best regards,
                ---Norm

The e-Bay pin, like yours, is a slightly different type of repro but no better, and for some reason they chose to age the reverse more than the obverse.

                  Best regards,
                  ---Norm

                    O.K. Norm - now I understand.
As you know, I'm not a specialist in Kriegsmarine's decorations, and I see too much naivete in me, yet.
                    Thank You and best regards.
