Need to discuss this badge from e-stand.

    Hi,
It does not look like any of accepted wartime variants of design type 5 U-boat badges. The lack of catch plate on the zincer obviously does not help to give it ... I would say - unmarked postwar Souval.
    Cheers,
    Hubert

I have refunded the buyer for this badge, which I mailed to a foreign country yesterday.

Same, but different. I like that. Reminds me of the destroyer badge I sold years ago, then declared fake on WAF, resold for pennies by me after making refund, and later determined to be a rare original.

I think there is a bit yet to be learned in this unhealthy lust to classify every badge by maker.

Bob, is this the badge you were referring to:http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...8780&highlight
Not quite the way you just described.
            Looking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.

Yes, that's the Destroyer badge that Bob was speaking of, first discussed in 2008 at which time the worst comments were just unsure -- never called a fake.

Also discussed again here in 2011, all positive:

              And again here:

At any rate, not relevant to the discussion of this zinc U-Boat which hasn't inspired much debate.

              Best regards,
              ---Norm
