Fake Eboat- mistake, scam or other

Firstly, if this is not the correct place for this thread my apologies.

Secondly, I am incredibly grateful for the knowledge I am picking up on this site. I knew some things but am learning more everyday here, so many thanks to those who post on here with a wealth of knowledge.

I quite like relic awards and always have done and need to fill a few holes in my collection, so was amazed to see an Eboat badge, one I need, on Ebay.

    http://http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201183172389?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2648&ssPageNa me=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

A quick look at the reverse meant I had no interest as its clearly an SBW fake but a few things I thought may be worth noting for others.

Firstly the postage was an incredible £30. Is that they way of making the money here, easy to think you have got a bargain at £10, when in reality...

Secondly, the break on the badge corresponds to what looks like a real weak point in the casting of the SBW Eboats I have been looking at, so is this just another way of disguising a flaw by making a story out of it.

Lastly, note the very red and recent 'corrosion' I have not seen that on a genuine dug relic badge, and whilst there is of course many types and materials and of course a relic could be lying next to something corroding its something to be wary of in my opinion.

I have messaged the seller which should tell if its a genuine mistake or more sinister.

Whilst I know most collect minty items and I can add little there, I wanted to try and highlight this to help others as I know relic can often be the only choice cost wise for some items, but just because its bashed about and cheap does not make it real.

Hope this is of some use.

    Cheers

I got no reply from the seller but see they took off the listing part about it 'having been dug in an archaeological manner from the Baltic area' to now having been 'fixed in a jewellers shop'

              Lets hope it doesnt sell.
