    Hi gibello,

Looks like an S&L zincer with replaced hinge and main pin but likely with the original catch. Another possibility is post-war assembly of S&L leftovers.

Does the catch look like this?

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

        Hi gibello,

Yes, it's a typical Lüdenscheid stock catch of the type used by S&L, Deumer and GWL. The wide-flanged sheet metal hinge is certainly also seen in wartime but never on any S&L KM badge that I can recall. In fact, it's the typical hinge and pin used by Souval among others.

In the end I would call your badge a potentially "wartime compatible" zinc S&L Minesweeper but possibly replaced hinge and pin or assembled post-war from leftover components. It's certainly an interesting variant.

        Best regards,
        ---Norm

The photos are small and blurry, but I wonder about the solder on the hinge which looks perhaps a bit darker and thicker than we typically see on S&L zincers.

          Best regards,

The "unusual S&L badge" has the same hinge type that my Imperial GWL BWB has

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

                      Hi Hans,

It's similar, but not quite the same. The small differences are highlighted in this comparison. I'd still say gibello's badge is an anomaly for an S&L.

                      Best regards,
