Hi Norm
It was tomback, I have posted it before here on the forum. The collector I bought it from who is a friend acquired the box and medal together in Kiel Germany in the early 1970's? He claims the guy had a whole drawer full of navy badges but this was the last Auxiliary cruiser that he had. My friend was just a kid then and had to race home on his bicycle to borrow the 50DM off of his father to pay for the badge! When I acquired the set from my Friend a few years back I had to pay him considerably more than 50 DM
I thought the box was fake all these years until John's emerged recently with the Schwerin 2nd pattern S-Boat! To me this is an amazing find and gives the boxes some clout.
Another example of Juncker badges in the blue cartons. These Coastal Artillery badges were previously posted by Thomas Bendixen and were from the Museum of the Danish Resistance.
Here's an R.S.S. Gablonz-made Fleet badge in a carton (no staples). Only one I've seen packaged like this but the carton is somewhat similar to that housing this R.K. IAB.
Hi Norm,
Here is another RSS HSF in this interesting carton.
Cheers,
Hubert
Here's another example of a boxed R.S.&S. Fleet badge from an old posting by Rob Hudspith of a Detlev Niemann offering. Although a different pattern, it's the second one we see in a colourful patterned carton -- a recurring theme for Gablonz-made awards.
