U-boat medal for review

Hey guys I was wondering if this U-boat medal is authentic. A veteran from Vietnam engraved his initials and company on the back. Does this effect the value? thanks

Hi Mp40Bran,

It doesn't affect the value at all since this is a cast copy of the Mayer U-Boat badge, complete with L/18 mark. We've seen this type of fake before in this thread:
