Dear all, I seldom see a cased KM badge. My concern is not the badge and the stickpin, which I believe are correct. The issue is the case. Any comments? Please reply. Thanks.

Cased Minesweeper Badge

Hi David,
The case looks fine to me as a generic wartime KM badge case used for some Schwerin awards, but I doubt these three genuine articles originally came as a set. As you can see the badge is a good well-worn Tombak Schwerin while the zinc mini looks like the Pforzheim design mini featured in Schickle's catalog. I fancy I see a partial circular outline in the blue flocking of the case at the top of the vertical pin slit, suggestive of a round Blockade Breaker badge outline, but that could just be my mind's eye.
Best regards,

Once again, as mentioned a good but worn Tombak Schwerin badge and a good but worn zinc mini from a different maker.
At first glance one might be fooled the the reverse finish on these looks very similar. However, the dark grey reverse on the full-size badge is the worn original darkened finish whereas the dark grey reverse on the mini is the raw zinc showing with some of the original silvering apparent over the lower areas.
Best regards,
---Norm

There were two different sizes of case for the Schwerin sets depending on whether it included the 26 mm mini (Halbminiatur) or the 9 mm mini.
