Schwerin Blockade Breaker cases

Hi Guys,

I've wanted a boxed blockade runner badge for years and have spotted this one for sale. By the state of the box it's looks genuine but I would very much welcome opinions. Is the badge good?

Hi Guy,

Looks like a genuine Schwerin Tombak Blockade Breaker badge - dishback variant - and 9 mm mini but like you say the photos aren't great. Not sure what the white residue is around the hinge - possibly polishing paste but it's odd that there's a patch further to the right as well. The flatwire catch seems the right shape but is down to the raw Tombak suggesting either polishing or replacement -- the side views seems to show residual finish on the lower part of it so I think it's the original catch. All this subject to better photos of course.

Finally, the case is not the more usual Schwerin case, having a different texture on the outer blue surface. And it's the size of case for the larger mini. You may want to post also in the Cases and Packets Forum, but I doubt that this whole set came together as is.

I think the price should reflect the worth of the individual badges rather than an untouched "set".

While I agree with Giel and "sicily1943" that the badge and mini are nice originals, I still have concerns about the case as highlighted here. The top three examples in this image are typical genuine Schwerin cases while the bottom one is an additional view of the case shown by Guy in the first posting of this set. The differences in the texture are obvious -- the Schwerin cases have a faux woven look whereas the case in question has a faux leather texture. The differences in the inner lining are also apparent on the previous postings. So it's not a typical case for Schwerin Blockade Breaker sets.
