An interesting WW2 story: what happened with H. Göring's diamond badge?

The awarding of this decoration is uncertain. First of all Dönitz was supposed to have received the PO badge with Diamonds (he did) in exchange, where Hermann Göring was supposed to have received the U-boot Kriegsabzeichen mit Brillianten.

I have yet to see a photo of Göring with the badge, but I keep my hopes. In fact, the ceremony where Dönitz got the PO badge with Diamonds happened in 1943. I'll post a photo of him wearing it. I'm guessing that's when Göring received the KM badge.

It is said Goerings awards were broken up and the prescious stones returned to the economy.

I hope that's sarcasm.. Many collectors around the globe have examples of badges with Diamonds that once belonged to Göring. Check my thread about PO badge with Diamonds.

                Kind Regards,
                Sepp.

The badge with diamonds, from Detlev Niemann's Price guide, 2005 edition.

And this comes from Wolfe-Hardin Militaria. The U-boot badge is visible, alongside other important diamond sets.

No, this is what an official at Nuremberg said in an interview. He was responsible for belongings etc at and during the Trial.

Are all original badges made of silver? I remember one, in the hands of a US vet, but it was in near perfect condition and I could not tell if it was silver or tombak with gilding.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

...hi Bob, there were only two versions both made of silver gilded ( vermeille) one with small the other with large swastika . Only minor differences in hinge and pin.
