...if 40K is overpriced for a piece only a few were awarded and much less known in collections, what about 10K for a knights cross were thousends are made of.

I agree with you Pieter. Rarity does count for something. A lot depends on the demand for an item. There's a lot more demand for knight crosses. The quantity out there keeps the price in check.
I say if the seller can get 40K for that KM diamonds badge - more power to him. 40K to a mega multi-millionaire collector is a drop in the bucket.

I agree. It is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Eventually someone will buy it near or at the price and good for them.
