U Boat pin badge, and emblem badge.

    Hello to all!
I recently came across these two items. A small bronze pin badge, a minature of the WWII U Boat badge, this has no makers mark..... no marks at all actually, and the shield emblem badge which i was told came from U 83 - The Viking Boat. This has 'GES GESCH' on the back. (Please see attachments). Being a novice on these matters can anyone tell me if they are genuine or repros and what to look out for??? Thanks!! Mark.
Ps, sorry about the quality of the pics but my camera focus is playing up.

These are pics of the back of the badges. Any opinions whether genuine or not would be appreciated. Thanks.

      Hi Mark,

I can't comment on the Viking ship pin, but as for the U-Boat mini, although this is a known wartime design, it has been well-faked so it's very hard to say anything based on the poor quality images.

See this thread for the reproductions.

      Best regards,
      ---Norm

I think that "GES GESCH" badges, at least from my investigation about my Tirpitz pin, are post-war comemorative badges.

Hi Norm, Amiklic. Thanks for your input and your links! Much appreciated! I'm 95% sure on the pin badge now and dubious about the emblem badge. The emblem badge was available for anyone to buy? Or issued to former members like the Tirpitz? Excuse my ignorance, i'm very new to this! Thanks!!

I'm not sure, but I think that it was given to the former members of the crew on their reunion meetings.

At Weitze site there is another Tirpitz pin for sale, in a lot which belonged to a former Tirpitz crewmember, named "comemorative badge".

Thanks for that. I'll have a look on that site.
