Don't mind the minor zincpest on the swastika/eagle's claws.
Tim, yes, exactly, a olive brown is a good way to describe the color of my zincer too. In retropsect, it was this color that led me astray in thinking mine was a tombak badge. I have a few tiny tiny zincpest bubbles on the body of the sub on my bagde. The color makes me question whether it is gilding.

Is there any reason to believe Schwerin wouldn't buy up a small competitor? Is there any way we could examine the Schwerin stamping more closely and compare it to other "known" stampings. If these stampings were 1) period produced, 2) done post-manufacture, 3) Schwerin purchased this company and stored their badges in the Schwerin storeroom, I find it plausible that a box of "other" badges could occasionally make its was to be stamped. This type of quality control error happens with considerable frequency in the pharmaceutical industry. Fortunately, most (but not all) of these errors get caught upon final check before leaving the pharmaceutical production site.

    Best regards,
    T

Here are some photos of a possible zinc Schwerin. Sorry there are not good but never got hold of the badge in question. Set up on the back looks comparible with other Schwerin zinc badges

Interesting theory but not one that I could agree on. I tend to think that these are more likely to be manufactured by Juncker than by Schwerin.
          Mine is just like Gordons.

So where does that Schwerin pin/hinge/catch come from (on the one marked Schwerin)?
              Cheers, Frank

                Skip,

What leads you to believe it was made by Juncker? If it is Juncker, is it more than coincidence that the Juncker AC badge was Schwerin stamped?? Probably not, but I notice that some of these "unknown" u-boat bagdes sport Schwerin type catches?? Are they the same catches used on some of the unmarked Juncker AC badges?? Or perhaps we may have incorrectly attributed these unmarked AC badges to Juncker when they were made by the same maker as these "unknown" u-boat badges???
                Just thinking...

                Best regards,
                T

Terrence I think we can be certain about the unmarked AC's being Juncker for the simple reason that they feature a 100% identical setup with Juncker marked CA badges. A setup not to be found on Schwerin U-boats nor on the unmarked U-boat discussed in this thread.

Well, I guess that rules that out. So, we have an n = 1 for the "unknown" u-boat badge maker marked Schwerin. Pretty skimpy evidence. I was a bit premature in the congrats Frank. Sorry about that. Although, Frank has found another piece of the puzzle I believe.

When I locate a scanner of someone with a nice close-up lens, I will take better pictures of my "unknown" u-boat badges in tombak and zinc for the files here at the forums.

                    Best regards,
                    T

                      Guys,

I don´t see that just by having the same reverse setup a badge should come from the same maker.
I also find it hard to believe that Schwerin changed the whole badge, did´nt stamp any of them, and then went back to the old design with the zincers.
Just being a prototype or design study does´nt fit either. There are just to many out there.

Me saying I like to think its made by Juncker is purely a whim, absolutley no evidence but the design of the eagle, high quality manufacture and the fact that ( like their ACs) they did´nt mark them just leads me to this assumption. It could just as well be Assmann or XXX other maker.

Still IMO the nicest UBoot badge you can find. Beats the Schwerin hands down.

Another one, attributed in 1942 to an U-Boot officer.

Found this one, for sale on a swedish auction. Thought you might be interested in seeing it. I have bad feeling about it, but these are not my field of collection (not yet anyway).

                          Opinions?

                              Hans,

Wow, this is an old thread. The Juncker makermark is bad on your badge.

Yes, i know Mark. Did a search and found it so i thought i post the pic´s here instead of starting a new thread.

Are there any original U boat badges makermarked by Juncker? If there are, please feel free to post them
