    Kriegsmarine and Diamonds!

    Hi, I've made a compilation of many kriegsmarine badges and awards with Diamonds. Maybe you can help to complete the missing ones, and /or correct me if you see a fake one in here.

    U-Boots-kriegsabzeichen und Diamonds - Uboat badge with Diamonds

    Institution date: October 13th 1939
    Number awarded: 28
    Markings: Schwerin.




    Schnellboot-Kriegsabzeichen mit Brillanten - E- Boat Badge with Diamonds

    Institution date: May 30th 1941.
    Number awarded: 8

    - Minesweeper badge with Diamonds
    Date of institution: August 30th 1940.
    Number awarded: 2 (confirmed)
    This rare Kriegsmarine badge was awarded in two oportunities (recorded): to Fregattenkapitän Gerhard von Kamptz and Fregattenkapitän Karl-Friederich Brill
    , both posthumously.

    Kriegsabzeichen für Hilfskreuzer und Diamonds - Auxiliary cruiser badge with Diamonds
    Institution date: 31 de Diciembre de 1941
    Number awarded: 1

    This rare badge was awarded to Kapitän zur See Bernhard Rogge, captain of the Cruiser "Atlantis". It was given to him by Karl Donitz on February 1942, after provinding important information captured inside a british cargo ship

      Again a fake. The Kriegsmarine badges with Diamonds were a present from Grossadmiral Raeder (not an award) for Oakleaves winner of the corresponding badge. There was only one Oakleaves winner who also was awarded the Fleet War Badge: Admiral Krancke. And regarding his own testament, he never got one.

      Of course there are several "Diamonds" of this badge around. All "genuine" and with a perfect story!

        Dietrich, thanks for the respond. One question: This badge is present in the Maritime Museum of Hamburg and they say is geniune and original. Does the museum knows that or there's just a lack of knowledge about this type of Badge?

          There are a lot of fake items in museums. They get donations and they don't care. This one is from the Tamm collection and he thought it most likely to be good. But it isn't.

                One of about 37 known to have been awarded, the number who actually got this formal document it seems were far fewer. I'm lucky enough to have a couple of photo albums and a few other bits and pieces from one of the awardees, Ruprecht Rössger

                  Amazing piece you have there Simon! Congrats! I think I'll do some extra researh on Herr Rössger; seems like an interesting guy .
