But i am a Hilfskreuzer "geek",as Norm would say.

      Cheers,Martin.
The day you part with any Hilfskreuzer (AC) badge is a day I want to see.

Nope, you will never part with your Schwerin but you probably will end up with one of these Japanese made examples sooner or later.

I can remember when these Japanese examples were easier to find than a minty Schwerin tombak and that is saying something. Both are extremely rare.

I think you know me too well John.

To part with a tombak Schwerin would be a hard decision.

        Collani,

thanks for posting images of your superb badges again.I do recall from an old thread that you also have an award that was from a crewman from the "Doggerbank"?

        Regards,Martin.

And they were considered fantasy pieces by many back then John.

Now we know better thanks to photographic evidence of the awards in wear and the provenance of the awards that come from the crewmen who served on these ships that were operating in the far-east.

          Regards,Martin

Thats interesting that Sailors on these smaller ships also were awarded the HSK badge.

I often wonder what sort of award sailors on the smaller ships would have got as i dont think they were strictly speaking consider Aux cruisers were they:?

heres some info I came across about Doggerbank:

Bringing up this old reference thread on the Japanese Auxiliary Cruiser to show one listed on Weitze's site today, attributed to Sanitätsmaat Rudi Puls from the Hilfskreuzer "Michel" (Schiff 28 ) and previously HSK Widder (Schiff 21). Apparently "San Puls" and other markings are lightly scratched into the reverse. To me this looks like an original STERLING example which has lost all its gilding and had the main pin and catch professionally replaced.

              Best regards,
              ---Norm

                        The "STERLING" mark is upside-down.
