    Well It Arrived Today

Hi guys well it arrived today, and now takes centre stage in my collection, colour is fantastic, the feel just amazing, wife and kids cant stop staring at it. Had to re-mortage the house but it was worth it. Thanks all to Jody, Oakleaves are on there way. Hope you guys appreciate it as much as me. All the best

Hi no not really most of the awards have been in my collection for years, just the ribbon is new which came from Jody, sent him Oakleaves in return, or at least he hopes I have. All the best

Hopefully you managed to convince them as well. "Listen, daddy bought a piece of blue ribbon so we won't be going on vacation for the next ten years"

Congrats Gary with the addition to the collection and nice subs too

                  It´s a BH Mayer top-middle(not zimmermann) ?

                  Cheers

                    Ribbon

                    Hello,
That ribbon really makes the collection (it would make any collection for that matter). I miss it already, but I look forward to the cased oakleaves and swords that were sent in return.

That ribbon really needs to be fully insured. BTW, a ribbon like that needs to be displayed with higher end items. I believe you also have an early L/18 marked Mayer U-boat. Such a badge is way too common for display alongside a ribbon such as this. I guess you need to start looking for a U-boat badge with brilliants now.

                    Regards,
                    Jody

                      U-Boats: I'll give them a guess for a laugh.

                      Top

                      - Mayer, L/18

                      Left

                      - Ugly bugger!!
                      - Juncker
                      - Funcke & Bruninghaus, L/56

                      Right

                      - Weidman
                      - K&Q
                      - Deumer

                      Bottom

Congrats. Glad that you're happy. Hard to believe that this cornflower blue ribbon is on the same demand as oaks and swords?
                        Makes your collection.
                        Congrats again.

OK, so maybe I am the most ignorant collector on the WAF. I have no idea what the ribbon is all about. I have a feeling I am not the only one. Obviously rare, valuable, and high end based upon what I read but what are we talking about here? Never seen this before and do not understand the significance. Please advise.

It looks like the basic bog standard ribbon for the Long Service medals to me, you can even see the crease from where it has once been threaded through a medal ring.

I think there could very well be some tongue in cheek banter about the ribbon; it was probably even a feebie or something???
