Hi Hans,

Well, very similar among your pieces. The "1" appears longer and skinnier on the destroyer and the "5" has that little upward tail on the bottom end stroke of the number that I don't see on any of yours. Does that mean anything??

Well, I was not the lucky one to get the badge. Who??? Oh well, there will be something else I guess.

Yes, those were very nice! Two thoughts guys...

1) It would be nice to have those images remain posted and not removed from this particular thread in case the badge comes up again.

2) Should we have a place where known accepted original maker's are posted for reference? Not a separate forum,please not another one, but either a database or sticky somewhere that shows all of these in one central location for all badges, not just KM.

The dangers are of course, the fakers will have one location to go to get it right, but we don't seem to limit their access anywhere, so does that really matter anymore. It would provide an invaluable source of information and reference to collectors in cases like this one.

FYI,

The badge went to Gordon Williamson and he did a very nice comparison of the Mayer/Schickle/Zimmerman destroyers over at GMIC.

Excellent reference for KM collectors IMO. Check it out!
