    Hi Guys,

I can only agree. This is definitely a fake. I saw this exact kind of fake a few months ago at the Berea, Ohio gun show. The front is close, and the maker markings will look correct, but the reverse displays the typical flaws of a casting. The pin is not quite correct and neither is the catch. The color of the fire-gilding is off and the base metal of this fake is a modern white metal alloy instead of tombak bronze. A bit of a scary fake, but as long as you examine it carefully, the flaws will be obvious.

    Best regards,
    Tom

After having seen the additional pics I can only agree with the others who believe this is a repro - a well cast repro - a dangerous one! Thanks for sussing it out Alex.

Toby, if you could add the weight and measurements to the thread it would be very useful.

      Regards
      Mike

Belated thanks for the addition replies on this.

As requested, here are the measurements:

        Weight - 27.5g
Height - 55.8mm (bottom of wreath to top of eagle)
Width - 42mm (widest point of wreath)

Quite a bit under the measurements Rob provides, in all respects.

While I'm at it, can I get a thumbs up or down on the mini please? I'm paranoid now! Actually, I'm going to post the case for rewiew too (in the cases forum), if anyone would care to comment.

        Best,
        Toby.

Thanks for that Toby - and apologies for not picking it for what it is first time around.

The weight is at least 4 grams too light for a tombak version and the measurements are 1-2 mm too small in both dimensions.

So a nasty fake in pics but much easier to ID in the hand.

            No need to apologise Mike.

I should have been more vigilant myself. Suckered in by the case, as I was, I didn't think to weigh it. That would have set the alarm bells a ringin'.

            Thanks again for your help.

            Toby.
