My thoughts also after seeing the catch. I think it has been repaired and the whole badge has had a new application of gold and silver. If this was as minty as it looks I would have expected the globe to be matt silver and not so shiny. Of course it may heve been polished up, but I tend to think that this is original with "improvments".

      Hi Guys

Thanks for all your opinions and input, After comparing measurment and weights with George's badge, the hinge constuction with my own Fo HSF badge, and receiving some more input offline I found peace of mind with it.

The catch could be a replacement but I tend to think it's not.Alltough the catch is different from an normal fo catch it's attached in the same way as the texbook catch on my Fo HSF. Personnaly I think the base material of wich this badge is made allowed for the use of a different catch and attachment technique

I have seen refinished badges before and I'm also confident that this isn't one. The ship and globe are finished in matt silver and the shine you see is just the result of scanner adjustments to highlight it a little more. As soon as I find the time I'll make another scan without these adjustments.

I think from now on I'll just enjoy the little beauty
