Here are 2 Schwerin U-Boats with "similar" reverse hardware. However, it appears one has a different pin and maker mark. Are these both considered ok? Just variations?

Hi Darrell,
Schwerin did use different size maker marks and I have noticed a slight difference in pins too.
Look at my two examples and you can also see the slight differnces. I will say this, the pin on the 2nd U-boat posted by you really does have a different look to it (it looks thicker).
