Guys,
Take a look at this one, l got home last night andthis badge was waiting for me in the post. I must admit my first impressions are not too positive about this one, but perhaps I'm being paranoid.
My first concern were several small holes on the swastika and wreath, along with evidence of some filing being done on the swastika. The gold gilt has been placed over these holes. If it was zinc pest surely the gold would not remain over this.
Second, in some areas around the wreath and eagle the gold gilt/paint looks to have been put on really heavily and looks pretty messy.
Look at the build up of of dirt and what also looks to me like overspray of gold around the guns housing and the breach block. Never seen anything like that!
Another point, it only weighs 20.6 grams.
When I first saw this one I was happy with it, but now I have real doubts, unless someone can reassure me.
Is this just shoddy workmanship on a late war badge from the LM company, who had evolved out of the HA company?
Anyway here comes the photos
Mark
