Beautiful gorget Ron , thank you very much for posting sir .

Question : When these HJ gorgets were new they were nickle silvered , however ; was the eagle itself coated with a darker colored plating ?

No, they were not nickel silver, but rather a silver wash back plate that didn't hold up well as can be seen by the few surviving examples. And to think they were made by C. E. Juncker! Years ago I missed a mint one in the original box by a couple of days!!

I have an ulcer on my right foot on the bottom and my Doctor wouldn't let me go. Too much walking. First SOS that I have missed!

                Hi Ron

                Get better soon

Awesome design. Is there a maker marking on the lower prong?

                regards

Great gorget, as far as I can see.
This subject is dealt with in my gorget-book:
Ringkragen und Brustschilder im Dritten Reich, a project done with co-author Andrew Mollo and published in Germany in 2012 with 704 pages in large format.
The HJ-chapter has 35 pages and includes various of such gorgets (four regular, one AHS, one prototype, one for a Schellenbaum and one questionable form)
and includes also the worn arm patches and gives information with what flag the gorget was used.

Another example, this one for Bann 342. Hope you like it.

very nice, did each gorget received its individual Bann Nr. by stamping it inside the flag banner?
