I have to ask this question for my own edification. Why, if it is a one piece spange does it have the mock backing plate outline on the reverse? Wouldn't this be frivolous? Wouldn't it have been easier to manufacture flat on the reverse? Or did they take an existing die/mold and modify it to use for one piece spanges?
    thanks

I think there are original ones of these out there. I have seen one piece fakes but they are crude in the extreme and usually just castings of a real CCC with backing plate.

Frank is right. The one for sale is refinished. How to tell?
This just screams out repainted, the whole badges is one gold colour, no fading to any parts. Look at the gold on a few authentic late war badges and you will see immediatly whats meant.

      Good question Don. Who knows?
Like you suggest, they probably just modified an existing die for the one piece. Can anybody tell the maker of the one piece just from design?

          ccc question

Refinished did cross my mind but it did have wear on the front and I just wanted to be sure. There is mint and unissued pieces out there and I thought this could possibly be one. DEL
