    Assistance with Heer Flak L/21

    Hello to all,
A friend of mine got this Heer Flak Badge in a large collection that he bought recently. I told him that it is probably a good one, and that although unmarked, it was probably made by Förster & Barth. I would really like to get other opinions about this piece because my experience with Heer Flak Badges is very limited. Any comments or opinions would be appreciated.
    Thank you! Tom

      Hi Tom,

My first impression was "textbook". However after looking a little longer at the reverse I noticed that it somehow looks rather soft and also not made out of the regular zinc I would expect to see on these badges. I for sure don't write it off yet but I would very much like to know the measurements of this badge before feeling confident with it.

        Thanks for your comments Philippe!

As I said, the badge does not belong to me. I only saw it for a few minutes this morning, and was only able to take these two photos. My initial impression was that the badge was an original by F&B, but I agree with you that it does not look like it is made of zinc. I will try to borrow the badge so that I can give it a more detailed study and get you the measurements.

        Best regards! Tom

This badge has been surfacing lately with many maker markers and out of many different materials .. The originals hollows with the wide pin that I have handled are very light weight .The new ones are not the same material and are heavy here is a crudely done one

              Hello Philippe and Ian,

You guys were right about the badge that I posted at the start of this thread. It is definitely a fake. I had an orportunity to examine this badge again today, but with a little more scrutiny. It is definitely a casting, but well-made and done off an original badge. It is smaller than an original in all dimensions. I only recorded three specific measurements.

              Fake Badge (heavy white metal)
              height 58.29mm
              width 42.80mm
              width of eagle 17.91mm

              Real Badge (zinc)
              height 59.79mm
              width 44.27mm
              width of eagle 18.59mm
