      Moning Don,

Thanks for the pics and I agree this indeed is a zinker. Well I'll write it's weight down in my little book. You just never stop to be amazed with the little buggers now do you

          Tombac Assmann Panzer

Here is a picture of my Assmann Silver panzer badge which I think is tombac based.
Hard to tell from the pictures but there is some minor wear on the end of the gun barrel where the base metal can be seen.
The badge has a replaced pin but apart from that it is almost mint condition.

          Height 59.2mm
          Width 41.3mm
          Wt 21.6 grams

              Hi Pchwastiak,

I´m not saying this is one. But please read this thread and compare yours to the ones shown:

              http://www.wehrmacht-awards.net/foru...ht=Assmann+PAB

The sizes given in post 24 pretty much match yours

This also crossed my mind but it's impossible to tell based upon the pictures posted.

Pchwastiak could you post brighter and larger pics end tell us if your badge features the typical track damage on the right track that all the copies have in common.

Why would you think the pin was replaced?

                        Hi Guys,

Well I need to adjust my office PC screen or buy a new one. When looking on my home screen I can also see enough of the left track to exclude that it has the damage.

However I'm still unaible to see the pin repair.

Pchwastiak could you post somekind of close-up with side profile of the hinge. If this indeed is a buntmetall badge this type of hinge would make sense as an earlier variant still in use on the first Kupal Assmann PAB (cfr. Anthony's bronze Kupal example that also features this type of hinge and pin) Would be nice if we could compare it with Anthony's hinge shown in post 62 of the same thread as refered to by Skip

This one of mine does not appear to be zinc. Not sure what material it is made from. Thoughts please.

                                Hi Harry,

                                Thanks for posting this badge

From these pics I tend to think that it isn't either a zinc or Kupal badge. Could you tell us how much it weighs?

Just like on Peters example I can't see anything that points towards messing/tombak being used on this badge.

Certainly the reverse patina reminds me of the type of patina only a nickel silver Porsche developes and now I'm wondering if maybe these badges aren't made out of nickel silver too.

Taken in to account the design similarities between the Porsche the Wurster and the Assmann it somehow would make sense to me that also Assmann was amongst the first companies to produced the PAB. Taken into account that the other two used nickel silver for the earliest badges why not also Assmann
