    File marks

I have been searching through threads to find out what the opinion is with regards to file marks on badges. From what i understand about production methods this wasnt really common practice.

Seems like we had a recent discussion regarding a fake EWE PAB where "hand work" was said to be desirable on original badges by this maker. Not sure if this is the same as "file marks".

      Dale,

Hand finishing was common practice. Therefore, file marks are common on badges, esp. LW, and even EKs just to name a few that come to mind instantly.

Ya thats what i was thinking too Munster. You know how you go back and look at some of your pieces later in your collecting career and wonder what was i thinking? This is one of those pieces that today i would let alone but now that i already own it i will post it for the heck of it.

                    Hi Dale,

These are imitation filemarks on a poor cast copie. The fakers must have tought that adding these cast in marks made the badge a litte more convincing. It for sure looks very old.
