    Jeff, I agree.

But why is the 'crap' from the LCTB thread spilling onto this thread. What is gained by polluting the waters in this thread. Could we be trying to gain allies in some W-A-F authenticity battle? If you boys want to stir up ****, go to Die Kneipe. Play with the big boys. Not everyone cares for the sarcasm, posturing, and tactics.

The badges yes, but the approach.... no.

        Mark,

I think certain people have lost the favorite enemy over on the crosss forum and are now spilling onto the badges forum to see what kinda schei******223;e they can stir up here.

I******180;ve found the "ignore" button very useful since they turned up.

Thanks Skip! I almost forgot about it. Works great!

            Thanks Jeff.

If I understand you correctly, you are asserting that my Kampfwagen Badge, my Legion Condor Tank Badge, and my 100 Bronze PAB are fakes? Or just some of them? Please tell me which one/ ones and what details have led you to that determination?

              Mark.
              Don't panic.
I can't even recall seeing your badges.
I have similar badges, but the point is we all have to believe in what we believe in.
Anyway, rest easy. It's just a hobby.

Yes my fault and I apologize. Should not have let it 'spill' out here.

I erred in bringing this to you. These badges are wonderful examples.

Seeing Robin's highend example of mine was a brief breathtaking experience. Who would have guessed they'd have two qualities of the same badge for the better heeled vet. Or, a special order for a very high ranking officer.

                  Robin, Brian,

I gots plentya sensa humor. I understand what both you guys are saying. And your humor. (Yes, humor placed strategically, can difuse an otherwise, shall we say tense, situation!) My point is that one needs to be careful how one slants the comments. Yes, we believe in what we believe in. That is pretty much the foundation of the hobby, facts or not.

But for the sake of the newer collectors who have a bad time as it is, even joking, if it seems obvious to us, may stir up silt and confuse the issue for those guys.

My only regret is that I didn't purchase the Portuguese made tank badge AND award document from George Petersen, when he offered it to me.

                  Hindsight.

                  Regards,
                  Mark

Well put Mark- could not have said it better myself. We are all trying to learn here. BTW- this was a great thread. The badge that started this was totally new to me. Really interesting piece when armored warfare was just getting "legs"

                    Cheers

                    Alex

Here are 2 I have owned for decades. The left badge is nickle and in perfect condition, hollow with backplate and vent hole. The badge to the right was silver plated tombak, but was so heavily corroded that the pitting was left when the badge was professionally cleaned. It is also a hollowback with backplate and vent hole.

Badly corroded and pitted tombak badge detail. Note the elongated skull.
