    Kampfwagen Abzeichen

I need some help. Does anyone own a Kampfwagen Abzeichen Badge? I know these things are very scare, and seldom seen, but they do exist, and are out there.

The badge I am referring to is in the Niemann Second Version Catalog on pages 157 and 158, reference 3.01.08. I am presently not able to scan the pictures in the book to show here. If anyone has the time and resources, feel free to post it here (crediting Detlev, of course).

One of these badges is in the mail to me now, and I will post scans as soon as I can. I am still curious as to whether anyone in our audience here, possesses one of these old beauties. Period photos of the badge in wear do exist, one of the most notorious wearers being Sepp Dietrich, of course.

Thanks for any help on this one!

    Regards,
    Mark

      Here you go, Mark...
It certainly is a powerful looking badge and will go well with that 'LC' type.
I do seem to remember a thread on this very subject, let's see if we can locate it..
I'm sure that D.N will have no objection to us showing this Image..

You want to see one of these... It does look great next to a LC badge.

...details on originals are very good. Look this up and you'll see this exact badge in solid silver.

Most of the fakes I've seen of these are cast from the obverse of this badge. The lines are not continuous, the detail lacks, etc.

Beautiful badge Brian. How did you find a real one? At the risk of Dave's wrath what does a real one go for?

John, thanks for putting up DN's reference.

Brian, that's a super looking badge, & you captured the great details in the obverse shots.

I assume you guys mean Legion Condor, with the LC. I just picked one of those up about a month ago. And now the Kampfwagen Abzeichen has surfaced. I just called home and my Lady reports an Express Mail Package has arrived .

                  Maybe I'll leave work early!!!

                  Thanks again,
                  Mark

PS - Don, I haven't even asked the seller how much yet. I am guessing the price will be somewhere between a Juncker Glider Badge and a numbered 75 JFS Tank badge.

Those two badges are a must for a true PAB collector.
                    I have a cunning plan.....

And the back. It's hollow with a silver backplate soldered on. See the 'blowhole' at the top.

Beautiful badge Robin. I can see myself in the reflection on the back!

These just plain don't show up. Less than 1,000 given. I think the sky's the limit on these for a real one. Robins' even more as it's the pure silver edition of mine. But the material not even the relevant factor here as the pure rarity of it.

I think Robin's like me on this one... Just waiting for an opportunity to show it off... They really are something else.j

Robin, superb badge! Now we show two variations: Brian's stamped hollow back and Robin's 'filled-in' back.

Don- What is your 'cunning plan'. You are up to something here, and it almost sounds sinister .

Anyway, my Kampfwagen Abzeichen has arrived, and is in my hands. It is yet a third version with the solid back. Images are below. And to make J Temple-West happy, I'll include a few more scans. First, the obverse and reverse of the KW abzeichen. Second, the KW Badge next to the LC Badge. Third is the KW, the LC, and a 100 Bronze Panzer Assault Badge. Last will be the authentic LC badge next to a 30 year old repro (which has actually aged [tarnished] very well.

                              Enjoy!
