    IAB - Hauptmüntzamt München

    Fellow Members,

    Currently under 'Right Of Return'.

Believed to be made by Hauptmüntzamt München, although debatable.

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=59517

I'm of the opinion that this is a nice authentic IAB.

It appears to be a silver plated badge over a zink base.

The detailing is quite something e.g. look at the rifle butt plate and the eagles head. How about the rifle foresight and the acorn cups.

The crimp of the ball hinge appears to be quite unique too.

Any comments on this item would be most appreciated. I think this badge is a keeper - what do you think?

The story behind it is that it was brought back by a New Zealand soldier who obtained it in the Western Desert in 1942.

    Comments please.

    I'm quite excited about this...

    Hi Hagwalther......

......you should be excited. By all means. From what I can see you look like you've snagged a good 'un. The blistering looks correct as do the attachments for pin and clasp. Never mind the story......that badge sells itself. I like it. Don't you dare return it!

    Congratulations mate!

The discussion weather it´s MK or HM (Hauptmüntzamt München) will go on until proof has been found.

                  Hi Infransammler,

I'm not sure either that's why I qualified my opening post in the thread with

"Believed to be made by Hauptmüntzamt München, although debatable."

Does anyone know what the possibilities are?

                  Regards ...

                    Well......

......with the fine presentation and research done by our colleagues in the earlier thread I believe that the mm on your badge is either KM or MK. Our fellows made that seem pretty clear to me. I think it's from an unknown maker, but that's just my opinion.

If it came to having to make a choice......I would say MK.
