    Hi Nathan,

Thanks for the additional pics, but its still hard to see what is going on with the hinge as it is a little too dark. It definitely is not textbook and looks like it might be a replacement (or an original that was cut for some reason??).

If you are coming to the SOS in 2 weeks, I would be happy to look at the clasp in person if you want to bring it with you. And I'll certainly be on my toes at the shown now that I know I have such tough competition on the search for nice CCCs

Here is one of my blue-backplate AGMuKs, also an SOS find from 2008.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

      Hi Tom,

Very nice clasp! Being a college students, I can only afford so much, so you don't have to worry about the competition to much just yet! Yes, I'd be delighted to bring the clasp to the show and let you see it in person. I tend to lean more towards the pin possibly being cut, but again, I'm not an expert. On the note of buying CCC's, I have picked up two different variation bronze "JFS" clasps that I may part with, both in excellent condition, I'll bring those along too. I received the pamphlet for the table holders at the SOS, but it's at home, do you have a table that I could find you at? Thanks again for looking at these clasps!

        Hi Nathan,

I am not sure of my exact table location, but its next to Jeff Clark's if you can find him in the SOS booklet.

See you in a few weeks.

Hey Nathan, welcome to the forum, and glad to see a younger collector join the hobby! I'm not sure about the one that's described as a gold, but the other two are perfectly genuine. See you at the SOS!

Thanks for the opinions on these pieces! I got the best pictures I could from my dad, if these don't suit your needs for close ups, I get some better ones when I get home this weekend (I'm 18 year old college student).....I'm a bit better than him with the camera.

kraut72 - yes, it appears to be gold.

Thomas Durante - Thanks for looking at these! I've been buying these based on your book. Last year at the SOS, when I got my book out to compare a clasp to the one in the book, someone walking by offered me $300 for the book, I kindly refused. Yes I see the differences to which you are referring, see if the images below help, but it does not appear to me as being replaced, but then again I'm not an expert.

            Ludwig - Thanks for looking!

Dale - Thanks for looking and for the picture taking tips, I'll make sure to apply them when I get home. I appreciate the complement and yes, the silver was purchased within the first few hours of the SOS two years ago. The gold was not polished, if you look on the back of the clasp below the catch, you can see where the overwashed the clasp and some of the gold ended up on the rear.

Seeing all these blue plates is pure torture for a Gablonz collector that has yet to find one! But seriously, congratulations.

I understand the vast majority of Nahkampfspangen to be manufactured as die struck or die forged. In the case of the silber, could it be a rarer die cast example?

I note what appears to be a casting seam along the edge of the award plus the presence of what appear to be gas porosity bubbles.

                      Are my eyes playing tricks?
