So there are denazified originals and there are denazified copies of wartime pieces.
But there are NO fake 57er. And that is very easy to explain.
By law everyone is allowed to make 57er awards. You don`t need any permissions for it. So when everyone is allowed to produce 57er there can`t be any fakes.
There are fakes of the 1957 awards. Take a look at Ebay. Oakleafs of cheap quality is passed as "1957 oaks". Fake EK1´s made in Poland, Latvia..of cheap quality, with a Bundeswehr pin glued on the swastika is passed as a 1957 award. Warbadge fakes made of old spoons with the swastika removed is passed as 1957 awards or denazified wartime awards.

could you please post pictures of medals which you would consider 57er fakes.
Nice Deumer. I can see the die flaw on the top bar which seems to imply it was made from 1939 frames. Does the ring have a '3' on it too?
Regards ...
Yes it has a 3. Thanks for asking.
I could post a whole range of oakleafs that are sold as 1957 oaks, but in reality are cheap repros of the fine wartime and early 1957 oaks.
What Peter is trying to say is that German sellers on Ebay are now trying to sell crap as " 1957 " instead of WW2 , in the case of the EK1 by sticking a crappy badge over the fake swastika or by selling a fake set of oakleaves as 1957 and hoping some mug will believe them .
1939 - 45 fakes are being now manipulated and sold as 1957 awards.

Hi There,
A good example of this is my posting being number 5 of this current thread.
The problem for those of us who have an interest in 1957 awards is that there is little information available on these items for us to make a reasoned opinion on what authentic 1957 awards are.
I do not wish to offend previous members postings re: 'there are no 1957 fake awards' but posting no 5 seems to go against this statement.
I do though think it fair to agree with a previous posting stating that there are (I forget the exact words) 'early, middle and late' 1957 items.
I, like Peter Viking, own an 'early' 1957 EKII by Deumer with the 1939 die flaw and '3' on the ring being parts from 1939 EKII's.
I also own a few 'middle' age 1957 awards being a German Cross in gold (as previosly posted) and others.
I have though, sold on 'later' 1957 awards from the 1980's era as I have deemed the quality to be a bit 'poor' and put the money into other items.
Does anyone have good publications on the 1957 award series?
I have 'Bekanntmachungen - Der Bundesminister des Innern' but would be delighted to add to my library in this area.
