No, I think kreiger123 has just realized this subject requires some more reflection. Nothing wrong with that, if you learn something afterwards, you might even risk a big mouth here first!

    Riiiiight, Don?

I know how that feels Frank, as you well remember. I did find it strange that we would have two new members, both from Maryland, that would weigh in on this badge though. Perhaps I'm just getting paranoid????

Hopefully those two stay here and learn. After all, this is the best place on the web for technical discussions on 3rd Reich militaria. You will certainly get the unvarnished truth.

Here's the one that has to be right. After all, it has the 'rubber stamp' of approval...

Please excuse me for my ignorance I see your point. "the rubber stamp". I will E-mail the pics soon. After some thought as to the argument I was not going to simply give in until proven wrong. I hope to learn more soon. There going back!

Kreiger, you and your brother are welcome here and will learn a lot. This site has saved people hundreds of thousands of dollars. Some people don't like this forum because collectively we will discover the truth of most every item shown here. Just last year we discovered 2 new fake PABs alone. Use the search function to see what real and fake PABs are out there.

                        Cheers.

great thread on a number of levels.....
"i got it from a vet"...great start but need to be dug into further...i have recently landed 2 great estates....both were inherited directly from a relative with some awesome material in each stash...however each group had some very obvious and poorly made fakes included....couple of explanations...the vet decided to augment his collection after the war and picked up garbage along the way....or the person who inherited it did the same, at a tag sale or flea market...lesson...always buy the piece not the story.
lesson 2..."a dealer told me" a dealer is in the market for one reason generally that is too buy something for x and turn around and sell it for x +.....if they are unscrupulous they will tell you whatever you need to hear to move the piece on down the road....lesson....dont believe what you hear from someone who has a vested interest...do your homework and ask questions.
lesson 3....dont believe blindly what you are told and take it to the grave with you....be flexible...we all make mistakes...continue to learn and become better and accept advice and knowledge from those who have been around the block...dont become defensive no one is assaulting you personally...just your POS badge......
bottom line these Aurich fakes are accepted by all knowledgable collectors to be fake....thats not to say at some point that an Aurich with a ball hinge may make its appearance but the burden of proof will be on the piece to "prove" it is authentic vs this forum to prove that it is not based on the huge amount of knowledge on these badges.
