    Updated pictures of Juncker Bronze APB

    I have been trying to improve my photography skills. I built a light box and took some pictures of some badges. I had this APB up for review about three years ago, but never got better pictures until now. Still a lot of room for improvement with the camera....but I am learning a few things. I used 60 watt bulbs for my side lighting...but may need to go 100 to better light the box. Let me know what you think of the badge. Juncker I believe......

      Very nice Type 2, first to run off the mill and the one you see in Hoffmanns press release photo when the badge was instituted in 1944. This badge is the most detailed of them all!

      Concerning photographing badges, that is a lifetime hobby in itself. You should find lightbulbs with very high Kelvin or Celvin at about 4700 which is close to daylight ordinary bulbs distorts the color of the badge. Depending on the camera you need to have the shutter open a bit more as your picture is dark. This will let your camera let in more light. If you have the shutter open for 1 sec or so you need to fixate the camera so the picture dosen't get blurry.

          Prestine 1st type Juncker APB

          I bet there's quite a bit more bronze finish on there than the pictures let us believe!

            Hi Tom, yes, this badge is a type 2, but is a type 2 because before here was a type 1. And in the Hoffmann picture there's a type 1 badge, not this one.
            Cut outs, oak leaves, sword... are not what we see in this type 2 badge. This type will be called on the upcoming book "2.1", because was the first production of the type 2, but it is different from what will be called "type 1" (that you can see in the Hoffmann picture and in the book "Deutscland im Kampf").

            Types of Juncker production will be classified in 4, + special grades.
            + others... But this is not time to anticipate too much news.

                  Hi Daniel, I would have agreed with you until some time ago, because I was me too not sure about.
                  But after all the researches I made (and which will be all shown in the upcoming book), I'm sure Juncker was the maker of this type of badges.
                  Other makers were involved during the war, but this type of half-hollow are attributable to Juncker.

                            To update this thread for future reference, here are some comparisons between a Juncker Type 2.1 (Scapini classification) and the Hoffmann press release photo from February 26, 1944 (previously posted here).

                              Very very close, aside from the ghosting effect on the inner margins of the oakleaf wreath and the more sophisticated cutouts on the Hoffmann photo. Perhaps a sample run from the same master die before some further correction?
