Nice original board, we have seen a few others very similar to this one over the past few years, here is another one that Van picked up not too long ago. Appears to have the same exact backing cardboard as yours does, with similar awards and numbering scheme.
I would tend to think these are postwar-put together boards for the souvenier trade, made from leftover wartime badges rather than a "salesman sample board".

Here's a link to a good thread on these as well as some photos of my Deumer "beauty." http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ghlight=deumer. I'm not saying for sure that yours is a Deumer "souvenir" board instead of a salesman's sample board, but the story I heard years ago was that the various cardboard backings (and especially the ones stamped "Deumer") were paper liners used in their cafeteria trays. Therefore, I tend to catgorize almost all of these as souvenir boards, though I'm equally sure there are some exceptions that may have been used by salesmen.

Tom, Dale-
Thanks very much for your replies and for sharing those images/links. Mine definitely does look to be the very same type of board.
I did a little digging around WAF and came across this thread:
http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=583487
The board posted by Jack is identical to mine (though his is missing the drivers badge) and there is a second board posted by Karsten (post #15) so there are a few of these out there, although only a handful seem to be "complete" and not missing anything.
I purchased this with the intention of keeping the CCC in bronze and EKII to pair up with a Soldbuch and document grouping I own and then selling/trading off all of the other medals separately, however now that it would appear that this was not assembled by a collector I am reluctant to remove the medals from the board and will probably just wind up selling it as a whole.
Thanks again guys for all the help!
Rob

I'm with the guys Rob, the board is a full Deumer one. While not knowing whether it is original or not, I agree with you and I think you should not split it.
My books:
- THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
- THE SS TK RING
- THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
- THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
- THE AWARDS OF THE LW
and more!

And I thank you for providing this link. Also, I know i saw a board somewhere posted recently on the WAF (maybe the estand?) that IMO could have been an original salesman's sample (it was either for minis only or for attachment devices and stickpins only), but I don't have the time to search for it now. But I think your strategy of keeping it together is a good one. However, if you find that for economic reasons you need to split it up and sell pieces separately, I would understand that as well.

The board with the minis that you are referring to can be found in the link below, post #2.

Also, the board show in post #1 of the linked thread is another variation of a Deumer display/souvenir board. The pieces are mounted on a light blue colored fiberboard. I used to own a very similar Deumer board with this same type of light blue colored fiberboard.

Tom,
Thanks and I agree, so far all appear to be Deumer souvenir type boards. I think I was confusing ithem with a recently posted sample book that included ribbons from the Imperial to the TR era. That one I'm sure was a saleman's sample book and not associated with Deumer or any other post-war souvenir board maker.

I think this would be more of what is considered a sales sample board. Found this picture in an old thread from 2004.

Deumer Souvenir Boards
I have found a few of these Deumer boards over the years. Some have been grey with the Deumer trademark in the lower right corner.
If you will note, all the medals are hand numbered on the board and came with a sheet of printed paper with the number and the name of the award on a sheet that was sometimes attached to the back of the board and other times loose and given with the board when sold to the US veteran.
Business continued after the war, despite the rules about no swastika items sold.
I have encountered veterans who bought these types of boards well after the war, so these weren't just 1945 items.
Two Duemer boards I have seen had the German Order on them (on pin back cross and one of the neck orders). Unfortunately, I didn't get those.

Do you have any pictures of the boards you came across? I am interested to see if the CCC on these Deumer boards is always the same, its an AGMuK clasp on the previous few boards that I have seen.
Thanks
TomIf it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a littleNew Book - The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II

As you mentioned above, here is a Deumer logo from the upper right corner of a souvenir board and the other image is of a medal list that accompanied a Deumer souvenir board. The Deumer boards were always mounted with fifteen awards (at least every board that I have ever seen had fifteen). When I first started collecting in the 70s, these boards could be found somewhat frequently. I remember some nice ones that had pieces such as a Spanish Cross, Fritz Todt Prize, and even a Kriegsmarins Badge or two, but I never remember seeing any with a German Eagle Order on them. Those boards must have been awesome! Nowadays, these boards are hard to come by. I think the majority of the boards, by far, have been dismantled over the years. I actually took a board apart about twelve years ago, only because the fiberboard was broken in three pieces and it was disintegrating. I remember some dealers would cut the boards up, selling the pieces individually and still attached to a remnant of the board.

Dang Ron, you are the king of Deumer sample boards, and I agree that the S&L one is a true salesman sample board.
Now that I think of it, I may have bought the one I have from you. I know I bought it back in 98 at either the SOS in Louisville or one of the OVMS shows at the Drawbridge Inn. Unfortunately I didn't log the name of the seller in my catalog, just the price and approximate date. I just remember the salesman had two of them and I only bought the one - wish now that I had bought them both.
