CCC in bronze, other medals, awards, shields on a board straight out of the woodwork

    Hi guys,

Just picked this up right out of the attic of an estate sale and I'm hoping someone can help me ID exactly what it is. IMHO everything attached to the board is unquestionably 100% original, but to be honest I'm just not sure what to make of it. All of the awards and medals are held on to the board with very old string, the drivers badge and campaign shields were attached using their pins, and there's no doubting that a fair amount of care was taken to affix and label everything. The finish and patina on several of the items looks amazing - particularly on the bronze CCC EKII and the campaign shields - and while the finish on the EKII Spange, the KVK's and the Red Cross medal has taken on a very heavy patina, it looks as though everything is factory new/unissued. Worth pointing out is that the Red Cross medal has an Austrian annexation medal ribbon.

It would appear as if to be some sort of presentation piece; perhaps souvenirs liberated from a factory or depot center and brought home by a victorious GI which were later affixed to the board for display purposes? That it is numbered is kind of interesting, however the number seven is definitely not a "German seven" and so my guess is that the handwriting was done by someone who was other than German. Could this be some sort of salesman's sample, or factory presentation piece?

Not sure what else I can say - the pictures I took should give a good overview of the board itself and the individual items. Please let me know if you have any questions and hopefully we can figure out exactly what this is.

    Thanks in advance!
    Rob

                      Salesmans Sample Board.

Nice Score! It looks like a TR Manufacturers Salesmens Sample Board that was used to showcase the various Awards produced by a lone MFGR when making the rounds to various suppliers that they could order from IMO.
But I'm sure others here can tell you if its a legitimate Board or as you already stated a veterans Souvenir Stand.

                          Hi Rob,

Nice original board, we have seen a few others very similar to this one over the past few years, here is another one that Van picked up not too long ago. Appears to have the same exact backing cardboard as yours does, with similar awards and numbering scheme.

I would tend to think these are postwar-put together boards for the souvenier trade, made from leftover wartime badges rather than a "salesman sample board".

                            Hello Rob,

Very nice Deumer display board. Here is one that I still own:

                            Best regards,

                              Hi Rob,
Here's a link to a good thread on these as well as some photos of my Deumer "beauty." http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ghlight=deumer. I'm not saying for sure that yours is a Deumer "souvenir" board instead of a salesman's sample board, but the story I heard years ago was that the various cardboard backings (and especially the ones stamped "Deumer") were paper liners used in their cafeteria trays. Therefore, I tend to catgorize almost all of these as souvenir boards, though I'm equally sure there are some exceptions that may have been used by salesmen.
