Heavily polished, but still a nice and rare original.

      Hello Nordmark,

in my opinion this IAB is not cleaned. It's just well preserved.
All of the cupal IABs I know are brilliant like this one.
If you have this piece in hand you can see a little patina and some dirt.

Indeed a very nice ISA Sven!
I like to see the cupal color go out from the silver finish.

            Hi Sven

Nice one to aquire, and I agree with the comment that seeing a little wear and the copper peeking through is always nice to see.

There appears to be a couple of green areas either side of the berries in recesses, what does that look like to you

            regards
            Graeme

              Not all of them Sven.

Very nice example. Cleaned or not, its a beauty for sure.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                Hi guys,

thanks for your comments - much appreciated!!!

@Graeme: Do you speak about the marked area?
There are glue residues of a label, maybe a price label from a dealer?
I can remove it without any problem.

                  Hi Thomas,

thanks for your comment and for sharing your example!
As I said: all of the cupal IABs I KNOW (that are not a lot) :-)

I don't care if it's cleaned or not, but as I already said in my opinion it's not cleaned, because if you have it in hand you can see a patina and dirt. I will upload better detail-pictures of that tomorrow.

                    Hi Sven

I refer to the front of the badge, just below the bottom two leaves. The reason I pointed them out was in case it gave you a clue to whether it had been cleaned or not. The dark areas could be original patina and missed if it had been cleaned..

It looks a nice example anyway, with hardly any worn areas

                    congrats

                      Hi Graeme,

now I understand. There's a little darker area with a green point in it. I can't tell you if this area was missed and if this is old patina.
If it has been cleaned, wouldn't there be old patina on smaller areas as well?

                        Nice!

Great looking Badge Sven congrats! I agree with Antonio, I like the base metal peeking through the silver finish of the leaves.

@ great badge as well Tom. If that eagle could talk it would have one hell of a story

                          Hi guys,

thanks for all your kind replies!!!

Please find attached some close-up pictures.

I'm not an expert of cleaning, but I can't see any rests of old patina in the smaller areas of the badge. There is just the area which Graeme mentioned with some green stuff in it. Compared to my Wiedmann NS which was heavily cleaned there's a big difference. On the Wiedmann you can see a lot of the old patina in the smaller areas.

What do you think? Was this badge cleaned?
