    Hi Craig,

no problem if you're sure about the source and the comments. More pics will be a good idea for educational purposes.

Backing colors referred to in my book

When I referred to "Army" Green or "Luft" Blue I only meant the color and NOT the specific branch of service these colors could be awarded to. ANY COLOR could be, and was awarded to any perseon regardless of branch of service or what period in the war they were awarded. I know some collectors STILL think a "Navy" blue backed badge was awarded to some Navy guy, I hope this will clear up that up for GOOD ! Tom

My tank, by the way, is magnetic. And certainly, while 100% sure of this badge, I will be glad to post pictures for education purposes. I may not be able to do so until next week however, because I'm just leaving the office. But will be glad to share.

Yes, and I included "loosely" in my initial explanation. As to Gottlieb's example, I described the brown material does appear to be coarser late war stock, so what's the problem?

No problem. Makes sense, actually, since this vet's stuff had a LOT of late-war stuff in it. Probably got into a supply area of some sort. It's interesting too, that "bullion" does not always mean "early" as some collectors or dealers think (I tend to think that way, but it's not always correct).

                Hi friends,

unfortunately, I share the skepticism of Heinrich.

                Sorry for my bad english.

                Heinrich, please translate:

                best regards
                Dirk

I'll help out here with the translation etc. etc... Craig, please do some a favor and post larger clear pics of your TDB in gold, with the type 2 tank on it. A reverse close-up of the backing material too.

Yes, this is all I can do for the moment. I'm swamped with work for the Auction, which ends next weekend, and Vera is on vacation, and Nathan left for a baseball game. Oh yeah, my dog ate my homework.
