I am not a fan of this badge.
Post #7 shows what appear to be a lot of problem areas for me.
Also, the hinge is strange, can you confirm if it is a folded sheet metal hinge or completely solid?
Can we see the cleaned reverse please.
Hans, you mentioned P&L variant, but just so I do not get confused, we are talking about what has been known as the "Mayer" design. Is that correct?
regards
Graeme

I see what you mean in post 7 Graeme. That shine I'm seeing ontop of the hinge looks like buffing to take out the seam which is indicative of the hardware being cast as part of the badge. --Also, that "pitting" can be found on that particular pedigree of cast fakes. On closer inspection, the "baseplate", as well as the "C-catch" look to be cast right into the badge. --Good eye. --Rgds, KenLast edited by Panzercracker; 05-21-2012, 07:16 PM.

Mayer design of course, but if you check Petz & Lorenz EKI, spangen, Kriegsmarine badges etc. you can see that they used this type (or similar as this badge is maybe a fake) hinge not Mayer.
