I have always wondered the same thing. IMO, these were put together by collectors using the cased Flower War medals as examples. Ron, I saw one of the 40 Year Army's at the SOS, just like you have, with the pin back, non mounted. The Luft that came off a medal bar and I'm not going to resurrect the discussion on the oak leaves
