    Infantry Assault Badge

    Hello fellas,

Is this what is known as a 'pillow-crimp'? The large acorns remind me of a JB&Co.

      Hi Robert,

Yes, that is a pilow crimp IAB, maker currently unknown at this time.

Looks like some solder above the hinge, not sure. Could just be the flash on the pics, but otherwise a fine original.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Thanks Tom,

You have a good eye, that is solder above the hinge. It's a very tidy repair. I'll get a shot of it...

It looks period, perhaps during manufacturing. Maybe some of the zinc cracked from the crimping process, and they saved it by soldering it. It's really hard to say since there's no finish left on either the badge or the solder in that area.

          What do others think?

            Hi Robert......

......That is one nice IAB! However, to address your question of a war or post soldering job......who knows? A very nicely done job though!

              Thanks Bruce,

You're absolutely right, there's no way to determine the time period in which the repair was made. And, maybe that's good.
