    Wernstein Bronze PAB

Another PAB been hanging around for years I never researced authenticity on. Hinge looks slightly different than one on this site. Heavy piece. Note there is a very weak wernstein maker mark just above and partially covered by the clasp in addition to the deep one on the side of badge. Material of entire badge including pin and clasp is non magnetic. Opinions? or

      Hi Bob,

I'm afraid this one's not good... see this thread for its "brother." http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=Wernstein+PAB

Your Aurich in the other post, on the other hand, is a beauty!

      Regards,
      Greg

        Hi Bob,

Greg is right of course, crude copie with wrong eagles head, wrong feathering, wrong wreath pebbling and incorrect reverse set-up.

Here is a good bronze grade to compare it too.

Thanks Greg and Philippe. Had my doubts on this one, that is why I gave it a good description. Wasn't sure though but I was pretty confident of the silver I put up.

            Appreciate the opinions.

The first one is showing up with frequency on a well known internet auction.

                Hi Guys,

How about this bronze Wernstein? I received it with other items in a trade a couple years back. I don't collect Tank Badges, but I held onto this one - I really like the color of it. Is it a good Wernstein? I see the hinge is slightly different on mine.

                    Eric,
I agree with Don, this is a good one.

                      Hi Eric,

This is an earlier Wernstein set-up. This set-up can also be found on unmarked Wernstein PAB's.

Here is the brother of yours with an unussual cut-out fault on the swas and left wing.

                            Dear Philippe,

What makes the second setup you show earlier than the first one?
                            Cheers, Frank

                              Dear Frank,

I reached that conclusion mainly by comparing PAB wernstein set-ups with the IAB's from that maker.

On the IAB's you'll encounter this set-up in combination with a soldered on catch and high quality finish. I think it's save to assume that soldered on hardware preceded the use of big catchplates.
