These badges were discussed on the forum several times in the past. I don't remember who made the link, Yuri I think, between the "A" marked and the "number" marked Assmanns but it makes perfect sense.
Unlike other makers Assmann was one of the companies that didn't just buy there dies but most likely developed most of them on there own. This makes such a badge unique design wise.
Just compare your number marked badges to the "A" marked badges in this thread

When you do some more searches you will also find the hollow variants and see that design wise they are a perfect match too.
