    Hi guys,

    for your information,

there are Vienna design iab's that are semi hollow (scooped rifle) and have the same wrap around hinge and rectangular catch plate.

I dont have a picture but im sure if you search the forum you will find one.

In my opinion #3 is refinished. I think the thick silver paint will disappear with Aceton.

            Hi Alexander,

You are right ofcourse. I had forgotten about the "vienna" IABs with semi-hollow reverse, here is one I had on file of this type. I think its more of a match than the Hobacher just based on the finish, in addition to the hardware.

I don't think this GAB is refinished at all, its often seen on this type of IAB. It has a greyish-silver "eggshell" appearance and looks very legitamate with a believable wear pattern in my opinion.

            Tom

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Thank you Lexy for bringing this up !

Tom, thank you for posting image of Vienna IAB,well it looks like this could be a good connection with this GAB and Vienna produced war badges.

One question remains unanswered, why no one well at least on this forum ever run it to one of this ?

Personally i think the only answer to this is some kind of super small quantity special order, perhaps something happened in the end of the war to a regular supplier and there was solders-officers that should be awarded in some official ceremony.

Why do i think that is looking at the way this badge is made it looks to me that someone was on the rush to make it and didn't put much time to develop this design to a higher quality, well this is just theory who knows what really happened and why this badge is has not been seen by many, there must be more but there is a chance they didn't survive or still to be discovered.

              kind regards,

              Eddie

More lovely additions Eddie, congrats are again in order...

I had thought your focus was mainly PAB's but you have added several GAB's lately. Are you just selecting choice examples of each or decided to collect GAB's?

                Best Regards, fischer

This kind of stuff is what makes the forum . The eagle seems to have the expression on his face as if someone nearby Cut a silent but deadly . Almost a sneer huh? Anyway, i'd say frank needs to jump in on this one , and the wear pattern on the fron makes it appear actually worn in battle, not to mention the personalization well done. I'd say its the super scoop of the month in my book. Now we all want one . Hope it gets in the next book or annex to the book anyway. If this were a contest i'd give it the blue ribbon.

Hi Fisher, thank you for your comment,i always liked GAB's but since i was after PAB's so much i missed many good examples and some just never even pop out,i am almost done with PAB's only couple left besides numbered, i know i will get 50 sooner or later perhaps next year but 75 and 100 i dont know when or if i ever can afford it.

About 6 month ago i decided that is time to focus on GAB's as i always liked them allot.
i found 19 up to this day and 3 of them i had from last year so far i have 22.

Going to collect mostly examples that i like the most by design, not all of them, i guess i need like 5 or 6 and that will be it,oh yeah and of course 100 some day i hope.

                    kind regards,

                    Eddie

There has been couple more discoveries since the book come out.

I really hope that i got hold of something unique and extremely rare.

                      kind regards,
