    Iab (s) & (b)

My research on this Forum is telling me that these two badges are original. I would appreciate opinions to confirm or question that, please.

    1. IAB (S) marked in raised letters "C" over" W" by Carl Wild. Solid, zinc, flat badge with most of the nice silver plating to both sides still present, showing some bubbling. Great detail showing well-defined rifle, leaf veins, acorns and eagle talons, etc. Solid areas around the swastika arms and separation between the swastika and rifle. Curved hinge base plate soldered directly to the raised guide lip on the reverse top of the badge. The round wire retaining clasp device is soldered to a rectangular plate which is soldered to the badge plate. Finished, pointed pin.

        2. IAB (B) - Die-stamped, hollow-back, unmarked, bronze metal badge with a nice patina, but showing some verdigris on the reverse. Excellent definition of all detail and stippling on the leaves. Solid areas around the swastika and open area between the swastika arm and rifle. Bronze retaining clasp and hinge soldered directly to the badge. Silver-coloured metal pin with a flat end at the point and slightly rounded at the edges indicating some finishing work, and there is a small flat spot present at the top of the pin near the hinge.

Can anyone please identify the maker of this unmarked badge?

              Hello,

Nice looking original IABs you have. The hollow IAB is attributed to B.H. Mayer.

              Best regards,
              Eric

                        Hi John,

Agree with the others, 2 very nice IABs and the 2nd is indeed a BH Mayer.

I like your research and analysis by the way for each badge you show

                        Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Thanks, Tom. I find it to be a good learning experience researching the badges and medals first, using the huge amount of information available on this Forum. Many times I can answer the question myself, as to whether an item is original or fake/reproduction. It just takes a commitment of time and I feel that it leaves a more detailed and informative record for others looking for confirmation of their own badges.

                          Best regards,

                          John
