My badge came with a group of stuff I bought from an ex-soldier in St. Andrews (Scotland) about 20 years ago. It was among souvenirs he had picked up while serving in the Italian campaign in 1944. The other things I got from him were a bit of a mixed bunch - an NSDAP armband, a few photographs, a DAK medic's soldbuch with its Red Cross pass, the radiator badge from a Mercedes staff car (he said he couldn't get the car, so he took the badge!), and an absolutely mint double decal army M35 helmet - which I later traded for an SS 1933 dagger AND a bullion SS arm eagle. So I have no doubts that this particular TDB is the real McCoy. The 'Tank Killers' book is very good, but like any book it can't cover all the bases. I think a lot of original TDBs like this one have been passed over simply because they are not magnetic. If you can get magnetic/non-magnetic wound badges, campaign shields, etc. etc., why not TDBs? This one proves the point.
Best regards,
Robin.
PS - I see we're in the same job. I'm beginning to wonder if there's anyone on this forum who ISN'T a cop!!
